Dr. Jan Wedemeier
Professional Career
Jan Wedemeier is a Senior Researcher at the Hamburg Institute of International Economics (HWWI). Since April 2022, he has been serving as the Deputy Head of the Research Department ‘Spatial Economics,’ and since 2015, he has been the Managing Director of the Förderkreis des HWWI – Niederlassung Bremen e.V.
Jan Wedemeier also works as a lecturer at private and public universities. His research interests encompass competitiveness and structural change, innovation economics, and regional studies. Jan Wedemeier has previously conducted research as a visiting scholar at the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei in Milan and is a member of the German Section of the Regional Science Association International (RSAI) and the Urban Economics Association.
He obtained his degree in Economics from the Hochschule Bremen and Malmö University in Sweden and completed his Ph.D. at the University of Bremen.
