After a welcome address by the Managing Director of the HWWI, Dr. Dirck Süß, he briefly reported on the latest developments at the institute. Afterwards Dr. Andreas Dressel, Senator and President of the Finance Authority of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg addressed the audience and emphasized the importance of HWWI’s work for the city of Hamburg and Northern Germany in general. The keynote of the evening was delivered by Prof. Dr. Max F. Steinhardt from the John F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies at the Free University of Berlin. In an excellent lecture, he presented the latest findings of economic migration research on the topic of “Integration of immigrants in Germany”. After a lively discussion on the topic of the lecture, the evening came to an end with interesting conversations, a barbecue and drinks.
