Professional Career

Doreen Hotze joined the Hamburg Institute of International Economics (HWWI) in October 2021 and is responsible for financial controlling and corporate development. She is also Managing Director of HWWI Consult GmbH. Previously, she headed the start-up center at the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce for six years. Her thematic focus is on the areas of foundation & startup as well as medium-sized businesses.

After studying business administration at the University of Lüneburg, she worked for several years in management consulting in the field of corporate restructuring. In 2010, she started working for the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce. Initially, she worked in SME consulting and SME policy, later focusing on startup policy. As head of department, she was also responsible for the startup ecosystem and its further development in Hamburg, for the promotion of startups as well as for the development of new services, digital tools or event formats.
