The Linked Employer-Employee Study of the Socio-Economic Panel
The HWWI is a partner in the research project SOEP-LEE2. The overall aim of the project is to examine long-term changes in employment relationships in the context of digitalization. The focus lies on linking individual and firm-level data (“Linked Employer-Employee”). As part of the project, the HWWI conducts independent surveys on the workplace integration of people with migration experience in Germany.
The SOEP-LEE2 project (“Linked Employer-Employee”) continues the company survey of the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) first conducted in 2012. It focuses on analyzing the interrelationships between individual employment trajectories, household structures, and corporate strategies. A key feature of the project is the linkage of individual, household, and firm data, which enables a detailed analysis of the dynamics between employees and companies. In addition, independent supplementary surveys are carried out on topics such as corporate resilience, cybersecurity in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and decision-making under uncertainty.
The HWWI subproject focuses on the workplace integration of people with migration experience in Germany. The institute conducts its own surveys to analyze the connections between workplace integration, decisions to stay or return, and individual living conditions. The aim is to develop practical policy recommendations for businesses and public administrations that support workforce retention and successful integration in times of labor shortages.
The project is coordinated by the Helmut Schmidt University / University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg and funded within the framework of dtec.bw – digitalization and technology research center of the Bundeswehr with resources from the European Union – NextGenerationEU. In addition to the HWWI, project partners include the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin), Free University of Berlin, and the HM Business School – Hochschule München.
