Mittelfristige Perspektiven der Ost-West-Konvergenz

Michael Berlemann, Marcel Thum (2006),
ifo Dresden berichtet 13(1), 34-39.

This article studies the perspectives of convergence between East and West Germany. Provided East Germany manages to maintain the steady upward trend in the industrial sector and the structural adjustment process in the construction industry comes to an end soon, the convergence process can gain some momentum again. In order for such convergence to occur again in the future, it will also be important for East Germany to react early on to the consequences of the foreseeable demographic change and the declining transfer volume in the future.
