The HWWI wins Consensus Economics 2018 Forecast Accuracy Award for Germany

(Hamburg) The Hamburg Institute of International Economics (HWWI) is the winner of the "Consensus Economics 2018 Forecast Accuracy Award for Germany", a price awarded by the Consensus Economics.

Today, the UK-based world's leading economic survey organisation, Consensus Economics Inc., has announced Hamburg Institute of International Economics (HWWI) as the recipient of its Forecast Accuracy Award for Germany in 2018. Measured against more than 30 German and international forecasters, the HWWI has been recognised for the most accurate forecast of GDP growth and consumer price inflation in Germany for calendar year 2018.

Consensus Economics examined the two measures in response to its monthly surveys over a 24-month forecasting cycle, conducted between January 2017 and December 2018. The graphical presentation below illustrates the HWWI’s forecasts compared to the rest of Consensus Economics’ panel; the consensus (mean average of forecasts); and the final outrun, illustrating the accuracy of forecasts by the HWWI.

"We are proud of having won the Consensus Economics 2018 Forecast Accuracy Award for Germany. It is a great acknowledgment of the HWWI’s economic forecast that has been a core competency and research area of the institute for many decades", said Pro-fessor Henning Vöpel, director of the HWWI.
